Online Teaching for June 19th

June 14th, 2022 | Community Updates

In this week’s teaching we’ll take a look at the actionable practice of resisting temptation in order to be more like Jesus. We will examine Jesus’ own life and experience, particularly when he goes out into the desert in Luke 4 to be tempted by the devil. Jesus is tempted to give in, to prove himself, and to fill his need for love and self-worth by any other means than by looking to God for fulfillment. Recognizing that Jesus has the same choices we do now when it comes to temptation and imitating how he countered those temptations is a key practice for Christians today.

This Sunday we will also recognize and remember together the stories of enslaved Black Americans as part of our commitment to engage in racial justice and intercultural competence – something we feel Jesus compels us to participate in a church as part of our discipleship journey. There will be a raffle giveaway as well as a tasting event after service!

GIVE GENEROUSLY

“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” ~ Luke 6:38
